It's not what people usually rave about when they travel to Korea, but my visit to the Trick Eye Museum in Hongdae is one of the best parts of my trip to Seoul recently!

Honestly, Korea was never really part of my realistic travel bucket list–or, well, it is, if we count my dream travel bucket list which includes pretty much every country in the world. So when my friends asked if I wanted to join them on a trip to Seoul when there was a seat sale, I simply agreed–after all, I’m not one to decline a chance to travel with friends–and let them take care of the itinerary. Very unlike me at all, actually, haha. But, okay, to be perfectly honest, even if I’m not much of a Korea fan, I still went ahead and asked friends who are crazy about Korea to list places I shouldn’t miss, and I’ll share that list with you in a separate article.
One of the things a friend recommended is the Trick Eye + Ice Museum in Hongdae, Seoul, which is perfect, because that’s the area where we were staying. Hongdae is known as the university area of Seoul, as well as the place to go for hip and hole-in-the-wall bars, clubs, restaurants, and cafes where the young folk of Seoul hang out to see and be seen. Hongdae is in fact my favorite place in all of Seoul, and the Trick Eye Museum is my favorite place in all of Hongdae, hence it deserves a solo blog post. The Trick Eye Museum is just a short walk from the Hongik University station and is located along one of those alleys lined with hole-in-the-wall restaurants and bars. You can’t miss it.

In full disclosure, the reason I enjoyed Trick Eye Museum so much is because it’s camwhoring heaven. I mean, seriously: Where else can you be photographed synchronized swimming, riding on a bicycle with angel’s wings flapping behind you, working the red carpet for paparazzi, and riding a witch’s broom, a hot air balloon, a gondola, a camel, and even Cinderella’s pumpkin carriage, among other things and activities–all in one place? It will really put your creativity, and photography and posing skills to the test! And I’d like to believe I passed with flying colors, hahaha, as you will see in the photos below. I’ll let the photos speak for themselves and convince you that the Trick Eye Museum is a must-visit when in Seoul as well as challenge you to post your own “in character” photos on Instagram, soon. Actually, I decided to just make one blog post about it because there’s just too many to post on Instagram. You can be sure I knocked myself out here, hahaha.
Trick Eye + Ice Museum is located at 121-838, 20 Hongkiro 3Gil Mapogu, Seoul, Korea. Museum hours are from 9AM to 9PM. Visit www.trickeye.com for more information.
