From the actors to its availability on HOOQ, I talk about why I got excited when I learned about this TV show.

TBH, I don’t really like watching TV. I’m rarely home, and when I am, I’d rather read or sleep—or blog. Catching up on TV series has to happen while I’m on the go and killing time—while waiting for my flight at the airport, while stuck in traffic, while waiting in line anywhere, etc. And for me to commit to watching a TV series, there has to be a lot of things in it for me, and Supergirl seems to be promising. Here’s why:

Melissa Benoist as Supergirl

1. It’s a female superhero series—about the cousin of Superman, no less! I’ve always wondered how that plays out.

The show is about Kara Zor-El, who’s trying to get used to a new public persona while dealing with her very real human relationships, realizing her full superhero potential, and discovering how she can help the citizens of National City.

Calista Flockhart as Cat Grant

2. It stars one of my favorite TV stars of all time: Calista Flockhart!

Yes, Ally McBeal fan right here! Calista stars in the series as Cat Grant, the CEO of CatCo World Media where Supergirl works as her assistant. Calista has expressed her excitement to work on a show that “embraces…and celebrates Girl Power.” Not that she is any stranger to shows that celebrate strong female roles, as she first gained television superstardom through the workplace comedy Ally McBeal, where she played the titular character. Speaking of actors I like, another one is also in the series: handsome Peter Facinelli, whom I first became aware of in the Twilight movies as Carlisle Cullen.
