You know how obsessed I am with sunscreen, so when SampleRoom.ph introduced me to the new Belo SunExpert Ultragentle Sheer Spray SPF50 at the recent Sample Room BBQ in Wilson’s Place, Tagaytay, I was instantly hooked.

1. Belo SunExpert Ultragentle Sheer Spray SPF50 PA+++ (P539.75)
It was so easy to spray evenly, and it falls on skin like a cooling sheer mist that dries quickly and certainly isn’t sticky. I kept applying it just because I liked the feel of it on my skin, but I didn’t really need to so often, as it has SPF50 and PA+++. And, as Sample Room’s Sophie Uy notes, it makes one feel very sexy to spray it on, and I immediately got what she meant at first try: It leaves this sexy sheen on your body that makes you look bronzed but without the grease or tint.

Anne Curtis and her “MiniMe” Casey Mae Real are the ambassadors for Belo SunExpert Ultragentle Sheer Spray SPF50.
Sexy effect aside, it’s actually good for kids’ thin and sensitive skin, too. Not only does it give them effective broad spectrum protection against UV rays, it’s also hypoallergenic; the chemicals are gentle enough to not harm their skin. Plus, it works immediately upon application, so there’s no waiting time before jumping into the water—you know how excited kids can get! When you’re going out of town, you need not bring one bottle of sunscreen for the kiddos and another for the adults—everyone in the family can use this one sunscreen spray!

But, this isn’t the only sunscreen we were able to try at the Sample Room BBQ party, as we had an abundance of Belo SunExpert products to make sure we can sunbathe, swim, and hang out by the grill without fear of sun damage. The event was an annual gathering of beauty bloggers who support Sample Room’s awesome “try before you buy” concept, of course, so everyone there was certainly obsessed with sun protection.

2. Belo SunExpert Face Cover SPF40 PA+++ (P329.75)
While the UltragentleSheer Spray is mild enough to use on the face, it did give that sort of sheen, as mentioned. So, if you want facial sunscreen that gives you a matte finish and even works like a makeup base, apply the Belo SunExpert Face Cover SPF40 PA+++ before applying makeup. It has a non-sticky formula and does not irritate your skin. It even has anti-aging properties!
Anne Curtis swears by it, as her most basic skin secret to maintaining her glowing skin is sunscreen—something that she learned from Dr. Vicki Belo. “I’m always under the sun,” Anne shares. ”Dr. Belo knows this, kaya lagi niya akong pinagbabawalang magbilad. She always tells me, ‘Lagi ka na lang nasa araw; it’s bad for your skin.’” She says Dr. Belo never fails to remind her to apply sunscreen, not just when she’s on a beach trip or taping outdoors, but basically everyday. Sunscreen daily keeps the wrinkles away, as Dr. Belo would say.

3. Belo SunExpert Transparent Mist SPF50 PA+++ (P449.75)
You may also want to try the the Transparent Mist SPF50, which actually used to be my favorite Belo SunExpert product before being introduced to the UltragentleSheer Spray. It delivers the same even and transparent sun protection (no white streaks, yay!) and is also water-resistant and non-sticky, but at a more affordable price! If you’re on a budget, grab this instead. This is also what Anne uses on her body before her daily running or swimming routine.
Tip: Spray it on your hair to protect your locks and scalp from sun damage, too!

4. Belo SunExpert Body Shield SPF60 PA+++ (P459.75)
If you’re one of those who believe a higher SPF and a non-transparent formulation will provide better protection, well, Dr. Belo has something for you, too: The Body Shield SPF60 comes in a water-resistant and thick yet non-sticky lotion formulation that’s easy to apply on your body. It also has anti-aging properties that your body also needs (yes, not just your face!) and helps your skin retain moisture. It’s lightweight enough to use everyday without worrying about getting greasy later on.

5. Belo SunExpert Sunbrella UPF50 (P450)
When it comes to sun protection, layering is important. So even if you’ve applied sunscreen all over your face and body (Hint: Don’t forget your neck, nape, ears, and hands!), it helps to have an added layer of protection from an umbrella—especially if it has UPF or Ultraviolet Protection Factor, the fabric’s ability to reduce UV transmissions. Belo SunExpert now offers this latest innovation in their Sunbrella UPF50, whose fabrics effectively filter out 97% of UV rays.

I got my own Sunbrella at the Sample Room BBQ, and I couldn’t put it down, it’s so pretty! It even matched my outfit, as you can see in the photo below! It was a sunny day, so I was really able to put it to the test. It really makes you feel protected when you’re in its shade. It feels cooler somehow, so I really feel the sun’s rays aren’t getting to me at all!

Even if it’s not a folding umbrella (I do hope they come up with one soon!) it’s so much fun to tote around because of its hot pink design, wooden shaft and tip, ruffled edge, and unique dome shape. Hey, you also need your sun protection even when it’s raining, so this is absolutely a daily essential all year round. You can grab one from Boardwalk, Watsons, Zalora, Lazada, and other leading online stores nationwide.
Idea: Get this as pasalubong for Filipina relatives you’ll visit abroad—alam nating Pinay ‘yan kapag nakapayong sa beach, ‘di ba? Haha!
