I’m secretly addicted to colored socks; the more colorful the better. I’m sure this is a little known fact about me because people usually see me in heels, ballet flats, and sandals, but I’ve actually been hoarding (and wearing) colorful socks since I was a kid. Here are just some of the reasons I think all of us should have our own colorful socks collection:

1. They’re a great way to make a fashion statement. A basic casual outfit can easily get a “mood lift” with the addition of colorful printed socks, which you can allow to peek out from your boots or sneakers when you’re wearing a skirt, shorts, or jeans over a tank top or tee, or even when you’re in a dress.

2. They’re a travel essential: Wear them to keep your feet protected when asked to remove shoes in the airport. Or just pack them in your hand-carry for when it gets cold in the plane. Layer socks when it’s cold, even while sleeping. And since it’s when I travel that I use my sneakers and boots the most, I need to have a good selection of socks. It’s also because of this that I’ve started hoarding socks when I shop abroad; they make great pasalubong as well (you can buy those cute colorful sets and give a pair of socks to each friend).

3. Rainy season is boots season. Wear socks when you put on boots, please. Since I love boots, I have to love (and wear) socks, too, right?

4, They’re workout essentials. Whether your fitness activity of choice is hitting the gym, running, or even attending classes like Zumba and Barre3, you need socks! When I used to do Barre3, that’s also when I started hoarding more colorful and pretty socks—it’s totally distracting when you’re wearing an old, discolored, and dilapidated pair!

5. They’re a means of self expression. Yes, one of the main reasons I dress the way I do now is I was repressed by the strict uniform and dress code we were made to adhere to when I was attending an exclusive Catholic school for girls. 😉 I was only able to wear my colored socks on weekends when I was a kid, so it was pretty exciting to be able to wear them socks any day I wanted when I was in college and now as an adult.

6. Happy Socks, the Swedish fashion socks brand available in over 70 countries, is now in the Philippines! I love their collection of colorful printed socks both women and men can wear (some of which you will see in the photo gallery below—click a thumbnail to enlarge the image and launch the gallery) and I can’t wait to shop more pairs. Here’s another great gift idea for Christmas, too! (Readers, start listing and bookmarking these ideas!)
