The weather is getting cooler, and there’s nothing I want more right now than to be in Tagaytay and just enjoy an even cooler breeze! If you’re planning to go on a road trip with your family to make the most of the cool air this weekend, I definitely recommend staying in Taal Vista Hotel—whether or not you’ve stayed there before. It’s one of the most popular Tagaytay hotels primarily because of its convenient location (right along Aguinaldo Highway!) and spectacular view of Taal Lake and Volcano—nothing beats waking up to that view—and their spacious and comfortable rooms and amazing service will make you keep coming back.
Taal Lake and Volcano
Tagaytay City remains one of the Philippines’ most popular tourist destinations, famed for its cool climate, fresh produce and resulting wealth of good restaurants, sweeping views of Taal Lake and Volcano—and its proximity to Metro Manila, which is a short 90-minute drive away (without traffic). Taal Vista Hotel is situated at the heart of this picturesque scene: the ideal spot for vacations as well as weddings. Taal Vista Hotel is one of the venues my fiancé and I considered for our own upcoming big day—they have four ballrooms!

Built in 1939, the English Tudor Mansion-style Hotel has become an iconic part of this popular destination. I won’t be surprised if you’ve had several photos taken at the hotel view deck, with the majestic Taal Lake and Volcano in the background, as you were growing up. If you haven’t visited in a while, it’s time to take another photo at this go-to spot!
And while it’s been around for decades, the hotel doesn’t look like it has aged, as it has been updated with contemporary function. The hotel has 261 stylishly appointed rooms that are fully-equipped with modern amenities. It has two wings: the Mountain Wing makes you feel the residential warmth of the historic lodge, and the Lake Wing lends a touch of modern flair.
Premier room with Queen and Single beds at the Lake Wing
On my most recent visit (I can’t even count how many times I’ve been back), we stayed in a Premier room at the Lake Wing on our last visit to Taal Vista Hotel, and we appreciated just how spacious the room is. I was with my fiance and my family, and while we got four separate rooms, we ended up hanging out in one room comfortably, just bonding and lounging around until it was time to go back to our respective rooms to sleep. It’s definitely ideal for families and even couples who just want to get away and enjoy the view. Oh, and you definitely will get an amazing view of the volcano from a Premier room at the Lake Wing. See for yourself in the photo below, taken from our balcony (where we stayed until evening and where we enjoyed our complimentary coffee the next morning):
Just be warned that there are no doors in the bathroom, except those separating the shower area from the toilet—you’ve been warned in case you’re staying there with friends or colleagues you’re not exactly comfortable sharing such an open bathroom with.
Each room has a work table, mirror, mini ref and bar, and TV.
The rooms were so comfortable and homey, and we could just gaze at that view all day and bask in the cool Tagaytay air all night, but we did leave our rooms for meals. We didn’t have to go too far, though. While there are several great restaurants in Tagaytay, two of them are right at the hotel: Veranda—watch for my new feature on the newly renovated hotel cafe—and Taza Fresh Table, which offers healthy and delicious comfort food for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, including garden-to-table vegetables, handmade pasta and sauces, and meats smoked right in the kitchen (click this link for my review of their breakfast selection and this link for their must-try menu items).

You don’t even have to leave the hotel for drinks or dessert, since their Lobby Lounge offers house-blended cocktails, special seasonal drinks, and coffee that you can pair with their freshly baked pastries and cakes. I can sit there all day, just admiring the view while sipping on a drink.

The hotel has all the amenities you’d want in a hotel, like a spa, a swimming pool, as well as a new gym and a new recreation area where you can unwind. There is also a Kids’ Club where children can play or read books. I personally like hanging out at their super cozy fireplace.
