We’ve officially put another crazy year—I’m looking at you, 2017—behind us, and ready or not, we’ve welcomed 2018 with open arms. I love January because, not only is it my birthday month, it’s also the time when I stock up on new things that will hopefully (*fingers crossed*) help me organize my life better than I did in previous year/s. Some are gifts, some are items I plan to buy for myself.
If January spells the same delightful possibility for you, allow me to share a list of finds from National Book Store—all of which are from its collaboration with seven Filipino design influencers: fashion designer Rajo Laurel, TV host & entrepreneur Daphne Oseña-Paez, fashion designer & Aranaz handcrafted bag proprietor Amina Aranaz-Alunan, blogger behind Chuvaness.com Cecile Van Straten, artist Patty Eustaquio, entrepreneur Cat Arambulo-Antonio, and beauty columnist & Happy Skin co-founder Rissa Mananquil Trillo. Each of them produced a line of limited edition stationery and accessories that commemorate National Book Store’s 75th year of inspiring with passion.

All items are chic, definitely useful, and promise to help bring some sort of order to our 2018. And if, like me, you have yet to tick off all the names on your Christmas gift list, any of these items will make great late holiday presents (or, how about starting a new tradition of giving presents to loved ones on the Lunar New Year, huh?). My personal favorites are those from Rajo and Amina, who are among my favorite fashion and accessory designers. This way, we can own Rajo Laurel and Aranaz pieces our budgets can afford.
Rajo’s line includes a journal, pen set, and tote bag. He created the unique pattern featured on the items starting with pencil, then pen and ink, then brush strokes, and finally thread and stitching, evoking a special handmade feel. Amina’s line, meanwhile, includes a folder set, desk organizers, and file holders with a colorful pattern inspired by nature. Read on for my picks from the items that will help us organize our desks, our bags, and hopefully, our day-to-day lives.
These beautifully-designed items are great for finally putting in order all the files, press kits, and clutter piling up on our desks.

Here’s a great New Year’s resolution that’s easy enough to fulfill, ladies: Let’s organize the contents of our bag into little, easy-to-grab pouches so we don’t waste time looking for our phone, change, pen, mints, lipstick, etc. in the black hole that is our oversized, full-to-capacity handbag. Rissa’s pyramid coin purse, triple zip flat pouch, and origami organizer are so nifty and hip! Meanwhile, Cecile Van Straten’s clearly nostalgic pouches and checkbook holders, designed for the new size of checkbooks available today, are supposedly meant for good feng shui in the new year, according to her. While you’re at it, grab the new Rajo tote!

Pens & stationery
The other thing that will inspire you to write more in 2018, besides having a pretty journal, is having a good pen to use. And speaking of writing more, how about sending more handwritten notes this year, instead of a mere text, DM, or email to greet loved ones or say thank you? It’s definitely more personal, not to mention classy. You’ll love the note pad and note card set imprinted with Patty Eustaquio’s illustrations of the gumamela or hibiscus flower.
