I was pretty happy with my Google Chromecast, which allowed me to cast HOOQ, Netflix, and other entertainment apps I’m subscribed to on my Globe iPhone 7 onto our TV for a bigger, better, more inclusive viewing experience. But then the AndroidTV box came into my life (I won it at a raffle in a Globe Telecom event) and everything changed.
You see, with Chromecast, there’s just one too many devices to set up. I needed to plug Chromecast onto the HDMI port of our TV, and then I needed to connect both the device and my phone to the WiFi at home so they can sync and I can cast, say, Netflix and HOOQ videos from my iPhone 7 onto the bigger screen. But with all these connections, sometimes there’s a lag; not to mention the setup is time consuming.

But with the AndroidTV box, I can convert our regular LED TV into a smart TV without the need for a mobile device, and with it access Google Play Store and its million of apps (including, yes, my current favorite and lifesaver Netflix, which is pre-installed into the AndroidTV box, along with several others like Spotify)! It allows me to stream on the big screen by syncing it directly to my Google account without having to use my mobile phone.
Accessories that come with the AndroidTV box: Bluetooth Voice Search Remote, HDMI cable, power adapter
It is so easy to use and saves me a lot of time on setting it up versus the Chromecast. Basically I just had to plug it into the HDMI port of our TV and voila—our TV is an instant Android device. I just had to log in to my Google account, my Globe Netflix and Spotify accounts, etc., and I can stream all I want on a much bigger screen. Don’t you just love simplifying life?
It’s so nice because it comes with a Bluetooth Voice Search remote that allows me to give voice search commands (when typing using the remote proves tedious). I’m so happy with it, I’m never looking back—this AndroidTV box is staying put on our TV, and I won’t need to use my mobile device to stream on the big screen again.
Staying home has never been this desirable—especially now that I’ve been spending more and more time at my fiancé’s farm house that’s far from the city. I’m glad I have this streaming device to keep me entertained at home all day. No more excuse to get bored! My fiance is pretty happy with it, too.
Besides watching Netflix (which I primarily use it for), you can also download other apps and games from GooglePlay, watch the news, or switch to radio. It also recommends videos based on your personal YouTube and Google Play preferences.
