If you missed the nostalgic musical’s first run in 2018, you have another chance to watch it until March 17.

I thoroughly enjoyed watching the nostalgic tunes of APO Hiking Society come to life in Eto Na! Musikal nAPO!, which had its successful debut run in August 2018, so I’m glad it’s back for its second run this February and March. (You can read my review of the first run here.)

Co-produced by Globe Live and 9Works Theatrical, the critically-acclaimed musical runs at the Maybank Performing Arts Theater in BGC all weekends of February, plus Feb. 22, March 1-3, 8, 10, and 15-17.

Eto Na! Musikal nAPO! is an original Filipino musical with lyrics and music by the APO Hiking Society—made up of Danny Javier, Jim Paredes, and Boboy Garrovillo—and written and directed by Robbie Guevara.

The ragtag septet: (L-R) Mark Bautista, Jobim Javier, Alfritz Blanche, Vyen Villanueva, Jef Flores, Jep Go, and Jon Abella

The story takes place in a Philippine university in the ‘70s and revolves around a group of students working hard to win a songwriting and singing competition. They experience a series of ups-and-downs, from first love and heartbreak to fighting to keep their love for music strong and doubting their own artistic abilities—all under the iron claw of Martial Law. Thanks to its charming cast and heartwarming coming-of-age story, it’s sure to bring APO fans back to their youth and win over a new generation of APO fans, perhaps.
