With the intensifying summer heat, there’s really nothing to beat it better than ice-cold treats. However, if we indulge in ice cream everyday and every time it’s too hot, we’ll never be able to achieve and maintain that coveted beach bod’. Thankfully, there’s Pinkberry to save the day. This handcrafted yogurt bar from West Hollywood, California uses only real NON-FAT YOGURT and real NON-FAT MILK, and their cold desserts are guiltlessly delicious.
From having only two flavors—Original and Green Tea—they now offer over 18 yogurt flavors that are rotated seasonally, so you’re sure to find one that can replace your favorite ice cream if you’re not used to the original tart and tangy frozen yogurt. But, their Original yogurt is still one of my favorites: It has the perfect balance of tartness and sweetness, with a light, refreshing, and clean taste.

I also like the Strawberry variant, which has the same tangy flavor, with the addition of that refreshing fruitiness and sweetness. It’s friendlier on the palate that isn’t too used to yogurt tartness, since it’s yummy and not as sour as the original. (In full disclosure, I’m really biased toward anything strawberry.)
Another favorite is the Salted Caramel variant, which tastes exactly like salted caramel ice cream—same sweetness, rich flavor, and sinful creaminess—yet you know it’s way healthier and without fat! You don’t even realize you’re eating yogurt! So if you’ve always wanted to try yogurt but shy away from its tangy taste, this is a good way to start.
You can also embellish their yummy frozen yogurt with your toppings of choice (they offer around 30), categorized into four: dry, fruit, luxe, and liquid. Each topping complements their signature frozen yogurt, creating various taste and texture combinations to satisfy your craving.
The fruits they use are supposedly always fresh, never from a can, frozen, or sitting in water, so health buffs need not worry. A small order will give you three toppings, medium allows you five, while large will get you seven toppings.
Let me use my own yogurt creation as a case study. I got the chance to swirl my own small cup of my favorite Strawberry yogurt as base (it wasn’t as easy as it looks!). Then I added Dark Chocolate Crisps (30 calories), which are rich, bold, crunchy, and went so well with Strawberry yogurt (I also like the combination of chocolate and strawberries). Of course I added fresh strawberries (5 calories) and then, since they look cute and interesting, I added Strawberry Swirl Pearls (15 calories) that surprise you with a burst of refreshing juice that complements the yogurt when you pop it. It looks really sinful, but it barely had significant calories in it, even when I added three sweet toppings of my choice.
I swirled and created my own frozen yogurt treat!
Not convinced to try Pinkberry’s frozen yogurt? In addition to frozen yogurt, Pinkberry also offers fruit parfaits, fruit bowls, smoothies, and waffle cookie sandwiches. Plus, they have new offerings that are perfect for summer and will certainly appeal even to non-yogurt lovers. They have two new desserts and two new yogurt flavors! Read on for my review of each, including the many topping combinations you can try.
New Frozen Yogurt Flavor: BUTTER PECAN
Pinkberry’s Butter Pecan frozen yogurt is smooth and has maple notes with roasted pecans, really capturing the indulgent, velvety taste of the classic ice cream. I really like how buttery it is. It can be enjoyed on its own or with their premium toppings to give it a different dimension, like caramelized pecans, bananas, toasted almonds, caramel sauce, and/or light agave.

New Frozen Yogurt Flavor: CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIE
The Chocolate Chip Cookie yogurt provides an innovative way to enjoy your favorite cookie. This flavor is made with real cookie pieces for a delicious, creamy, and sweet taste. No dunking necessary! It’s a rich-tasting yogurt that doesn’t overwhelm with sweetness. The chocolate flavor is great, the cookie taste light—which is why it makes total sense to top this yogurt with cookie dough!
Chocolate Chip Cookie sundae
Yes, besides enjoying it on its own, you may also have it with premium toppings such as semi-sweet chocolate chips, mini milk chocolate gems, honey almond granola, whipped cream, or chocolate sauce. Mix and match them to create a new taste experience each time. Click through the gallery below for my review of some topping combinations you can try with the new Chocolate Chip Cookie frozen yogurt.
New Dessert: Warm Apple Pie Topped with Frozen Yogurt
Want a richer dessert with your choice of yogurt flavor? Try the new Pinkberry Apple Pie a la Mode (P155/small, P210/medium, P255/large) that captures the classic taste of apple pie swirled into the ultimate warm dessert. The base is made with real baked apples and crusty, crunchy cinnamon crumble, which is then topped with your choice of Original, Vanilla Bean, or Salted Caramel yogurt, and a drizzle of delectable caramel sauce that I just want to put on everything. The first thing I noticed about this dessert is just how good it smells! Yum!

If you love the tarty, tangy taste of Pinkberry’s Original yogurt, pick this as topping of your apple pie as it doesn’t get overwhelmed by the sweetness and fruitiness of the apple pie, caramel syrup, and cinnamon.
Topping your Warm Apple Pie with Vanilla Bean yogurt gives the dessert that holiday spice. The flavor went well with the rich taste of the baked apples and cinnamon. Bagay!
My favorite yogurt topping for my apple pie is hands down Pinkberry’s Salted Caramel. I think this is the perfect combo—the caramel drizzle obviously complemented the salted caramel so well, enhancing, not cancelling each other out. It gives the apple pie a whole new sinful dimension, you wouldn’t even realize you’re eating healthier because this rich and flavorful dessert is just so indulgent!
New Dessert: Fudge Brownies Topped with Frozen Yogurt
Another one of your favorite desserts made healthier with the use of Pinkberry yogurt instead of ice cream is the Brownie a la Mode (P145/small, P200/medium, P245/large). Pinkberry’s version has indulgent chocolate chip brownies swimming in decadent warm chocolate fudge syrup, then topped with your choice of Original, Vanilla Bean, Butter Pecan, or Salted Caramel yogurt and sprinkled with almonds and shaved milk chocolate for an added crunch.

When paired with the Original yogurt, the tangy taste is balanced out by the rich chocolate fudge and brownie.
Topping your fudge brownies with Salted Caramel yogurt is as sinful as it can get. The rich salted caramel flavor is further enhanced by the decadent brownies and fudge.
The buttery Butter Pecan yogurt went well with the rich brownies without cancelling out the taste or having that umay factor. Super sweet on super sweet really works!
But I think choosing Vanilla Bean yogurt for your Brownie a la Mode would make it into how you really imagine your brownie a la mode to be—with vanilla ice cream, that is—so this combo really works. The rich spice of their Vanilla Bean yogurt is pronounced amidst the richness of brownies.
