The rainy season may be upon us, but the daily rain showers can’t seem to chase away the lingering heat and humidity—in fact, they seem to make them worse! And as someone who gets bummed by the rain, the gloomy, wet weather can sometimes be too much to handle. So for my daily pick-me-up that doesn’t involve my usual steaming cup of joe, I’m glad to enjoy Starbucks’ new cold drinks.
Before you grab your favorite cool drink from Starbucks, read the rest of this post. First of all, you must know that there’s an ongoing Starbucks Rewards promo this week: Load P1,500 to your existing Starbucks Card from today, June 27, to June 29, to receive P200 worth of Starbucks gift certificates!
Iced Coffee Card
Chib?ll Mini Card
If, after all this time you still don’t have a Starbucks Card, now’s a good time to get one, because they have two really cute ones available: The Chib?ll Mini Card is available for a minimum activation fee of P500, while the Iced Coffee Card is available for a minimum activation fee of P1,000. You can purchase a maximum of two of each cards per day.
And what cool new drinks may you avail with these cards, extra load, and gift certificates, you ask? Start off with the two new Starbucks Frappuccino flavors, which have been around for weeks but I have yet to try because I’ve been away for so long: Banana Split Mocha Frappuccino and Irish Cream Coffee Pudding Frappuccino, two indulgent flavors that are directly inspired by some of our favorite desserts. Get them Tall for P175, Grande for P190, and Venti for P205.
The Banana Split Mocha Frappuccino is a rich mixture of Mocha Frappuccino blended with banana puree, which is then layered on top of strawberry whipped cream. This concoction is finished with regular whipped cream, a drizzle of rich chocolate, and crunchy waffle cone pieces.
I’ve been seeing fellow coffee lovers’ rave reviews of the new Irish Cream Coffee Pudding Frappuccino, handcrafted with Starbucks’ signature Coffee Frappuccino poured on top of creamy coffee pudding infused with rich Irish Cream flavor, then made even more delectable by espresso whipped cream and Turkish ground espresso powder on top.
And for those like me who are looking for the perfect cold brew experience at home, Starbucks has also released its Cold Brew Pitcher Packs (P895). This is a great blend of Latin American and African beans that are roasted to bring out their rich and intense flavors when brewed cold. The coffee flavor is balanced, smooth, and rich with subtle sweet chocolatey notes.
To brew a perfect pitcher, simply steep the pitcher packs in a pitcher kept in your refrigerator overnight, then you can enjoy bold, super smooth cold coffee all week. A box contains two bags with two pitcher packs each.
If you want something other than coffee, try the Starbucks VIA Matcha (P295), which allows you to enjoy their blended Matcha drink wherever you are.
But it’s not just the drinks that are making me want to enjoy every meal at Starbucks. They have new food offerings that are making my mouth water just thinking about them. I can’t wait to try the new Lime Torte Cake (P150/slice, P1,350/whole), with its sweet and tangy flavor partnered with crunchy and crumbly cake.
Mango lovers will surely enjoy the Mango Crunch Cake (P160), with its smooth and creamy mousse layered with Philippine mangoes, crumbly and buttery graham, and crunchy white chocolate almond.
Chocolate lovers must go for the Chocolate Marshmallow Cake (P160), a moist chocolate layer cake with smooth and creamy chocolate truffle, frosted with marshmallow icing.
Blueberry Greek Yogurt Parfait
Starbucks also has two new Greek Yogurt Parfaits (available for P140 each, only in Metro Manila) for those who want a delectable and healthy treat.
Mango Greek Yogurt Parfait
The Blueberry Greek Yogurt Parfait is made with creamy Greek yogurt layered with a sweet and tart blueberry compote and then topped with crunchy oat granola. There’s also the Mango Greek Yogurt Parfait, made with sweet mango compote and Greek yogurt, finished with a sprinkling of crunchy oat granola.
My fellow bagel lovers can also look forward to the Whole Wheat Bagel (P55) made with linseeds, rye and soy grits, corn semolina, and oats; as well as the more savory option: Bagel Bites filled with Cream Cheese (P95 for 3pcs). These mini herbed bagels are generously stuffed with cream cheese to satisfy you with every bite.
