One of the best, safest gifts you can ever give this Christmas is delicious food! It’s one gift you know will be enjoyed and not recycled by the recipient. The key is to give food that’s delicious yet also one of kind, something they don’t often encounter but would love to try, OR something they absolutely already love—like brownies, chocolates, cookies, cakes, yet with a twist!
I found all of these at the preview of the upcoming benefit food fair, Best Food Forward 2015, that’s happening on October 10-11, from 10AM to 8PM, at the Rockwell Tent in Makati. It was just a sneak peek, so only a select few from over 80 speciality food concessionaires that await you this weekend were there, but already, I found lots of foodie gift ideas, not to mention dishes we can serve when hosting parties at home or bring when we’re attending a pot-luck get-together. There was a variety of delectable treats, from the sweet and sour to savory and spicy, at the sneak peek; imagine just how many more choices are at the food fair, which is now on its fifth year!
There’s an entrance fee of P100, but it’s all worth it because of everything in store for visitors, not to mention that the event supports My Father’s House and Unang Hakbang Foundation, its beneficiaries. Best Food Forward also continues to be an avenue for newcomers to be discovered in the bustling Manila food scene, thereby supporting our budding entrepreneurs.
Besides a wide variety of purveyors, there are also innovative cooking demonstrations, celebrity chef appearances and celebrity guests, and family and children’s attractions that will ensure a grand, fun, food-filled weekend for the whole family and barkada.
Here’s a sneak peek at the food offerings in store for you, with comments on some of the items I’ve tried, including my favorite liquor-infused brownies from Brownie Bar (above).
