Yoga has been my fitness activity of choice since 2007, so my workout clothes are pretty limited to sports bras and tights. However, I’m also aware more and more Filipinas—even if I’m not included—are getting into running and more hard-core exercises that involve the right kind of shoes. So, I’m glad for us all that a sports brand like Nike takes into consideration not just our performance needs but also aesthetic and style when it comes to women’s workout gear.
Gone are the days when workout clothes are boring and shapeless. More and more sports brands like Nike Women make sure we always have stylish, trendy options that we can even wear outside the gym or yoga studio and post-run—and that we actually look forward to shopping.
So, if you are in need of chic workout clothes, not only for utmost comfort and performance but also to motivate you to follow your fitness routine, or if you’re joining a marathon soon, like the first-ever Nike Women’s 10K Manila (#WeRunMNL) on Saturday, May 9, in Filinvest, Alabang, read on to get a sneak peek at Nike’s Summer 2015 collection of sports bras, tights, and footwear that you can actually wear all-year-round.

I first got acquainted with Nike Women’s Summer 2015 collection at the Nike Digital Media Conference recently. Hosted by Kim Jones, the event showed us how Nike engages female athletes globally and how it designs for HER. They walked us through the latest collection, which includes Nike’s Apparel Innovation for the Pro Bra Collection as well as the Nike Free Training and Running Collection for Summer 2015.
1. The Nike Pro Bra Collection offers four products that provide a continuum of support: the Nike Pro Indy Bra, Nike Pro Classic Bra, Nike Pro Fierce Bra, and Nike Pro Rival Bra.
You can get yourself measured in Nike stores to find out your correct bra size…
…using this cool app.
2. Nike Tights for running, training, and sportswear boast of stylish, feminine, and super hip designs, with variants customized according to your workout needs (i.e. secret pockets for running tights, light and more flexible material for yoga tights, etc.).
3. Training shoes: 2015 Nike Free TR 5 Flyknit
Training involves a wide range of movements and activities so you need shoes that allow for dynamic, natural movement while also supporting your feet during vigorous and varied workout routines. You may want to check out the 2015 Nike Free TR 5 Flyknit shoe that allows for comfort and flexibility while being very light and strong with a sock-like fit. It has cushioning and traction underfoot and support in the upper. The parts of the shoe work together to deliver multidirectional natural motion.
I wish I was wearing this when I participated in a Nike+ Training Club (N+TC) session led by Nike Master Trainer Emelda Vincent because my one and only pair of sporty sneakers definitely did not provide the support and cushioning I needed for the hard core workout! This is similar to the huge event last April 25 where over 400 girls attended the N+TC Live Philippine event in Valkyrie (yes, Nike got the ladies working out in Manila’s largest nightclub!), which is a prelude to the #WeRunMNL race event. It brought together the best N+TC live workouts customized and targeted to #WeRunMNL race participants with special expert coaching by N+TC trainer Sheena Vera Cruz, a dance choreographer, artist development coach, and N+TC trainer best known as one of the international panelists for Dance Battleground, a dance reality television series that features dance crews from all over Malaysia.
4. Running shoes: Nike Free 3.0 Flyknit
The concept of Nike Free was born in 2001 after a legendary coach’s insights inspired designers to create footwear that mimicked the feel of barefoot training as well as offered important protection and support. The 2015 collection features redesigned uppers engineered to work holistically with the shoe’s natural flexibility and offers runners a progression of three natural ride options.
One of them is the 3.0 Flyknit, Nike’s most natural ride with a snug Flyknit upper and 4-millimeter heel-to-toe offset. It conforms to the shape of your foot and offers support at the same time. With a slightly looser weave than in previous models, the Flyknit uppers promote improved breathability.
5. Running shoes: Nike Free 4.0 Flyknit
A cushioned, natural ride with a contoured Flyknit upper and 6-millimeter offset, the Nike Free 4.0 Flyknit also conforms to the shape of a runner’s foot and offers support at the same time. It uses a non-stretch yarn in the heel area to add even more stability and support to those who need it. Removing the structured heel counter frees up the runner’s natural gait and pares down weight.
6. Running shoes: Nike Free 5.0
Nike’s most cushioned, natural ride with an engineered upper and 8-millimeter offset shed layers this year and now boasts a full bootie construction that delivers seamless comfort and a flexible, lightweight ride. The mesh material used on the upper and the no-sew overlays also contribute to the overall lightness and breathability of the shoe. I really love the bright and hip colors of the Nike Free series.
Any of these running shoes would be perfect for the Nike Women’s 10k Manila, which required participants to register with their best female buddy and enjoy the experience with the rest of the growing community of women who are motivated to achieve their personal running goals. This running event came from the insight that Pinays love to run and train with a partner.
The Nike Women’s 10k Manila is part of the global Nike Women’s Event Series, which includes the Nike Women’s Race Series and N+TC Tour. The global event series will see more than 200,000 women around the world celebrate and experience the power of sport through a series of high-energy training events.
So whether you are training for the Nike Women’s 10k Manila or any other race, marathon, or sport for that matter, you can now shop these stylish workout essentials at Nike. If you need to update your gym or yoga wardrobe, take your pick from these latest pieces, too!
