We all have that chat group among girlfriends whom we consult about anything and everything, from our period woes to how to lose weight and how to treat that annoying breakout just days before a big day. But, as people grow, so do the topics in that chat group—and maybe, while your friends have outgrown the concerns you still have and have traded it for wedding day preps and baby tips, you’re still stuck trying to figure out how to treat your adult acne and whiten those dark spots.
What’s a girl to do when she doesn’t have the time, the budget, or even the guts to seek professional help for her skin concerns? You most probably just went on Google and opened various websites on different tabs, trying to figure out the solution on your own. There has never been a single online expert on skin readily available on the web until now.
Now, there’s one website you can go to that not only offers the answers you need, but also allows you to consult a member of the Philippine Dermatological Society to truly get expert advice—in the safety and privacy of wherever you are browsing the website from.
The website I speak of is SkinMatters.com.ph, the first ever website dedicated to skin care. A collaboration of some of the savviest authorities on skin, Unilever, the Philippine Dermatological Society, and an editorial team of skin care experts and writers (I’m one of them, yay!), SkinMatters.com.ph aims to offer concerned men and women an omnibus site of everything skincare related.
“After seeing Google Trends data on searches related to skin, we saw a need for knowledge and expertise on skin care that is readily available online,” shared Mian Datu-David, Unilever Philippines’ Marketing Director for Skin. “We wanted to give our consumers a comprehensive site where they can find the solutions to their skin concerns.”
Featuring a wide array of content, SkinMatters.com.ph houses everything from articles on how to best fight pimples and how to decode your sunscreen, to how-to videos and even top bloggers’ and celebrities’ tips and trends. Visitors can read testimonials from real users and can recommend products themselves in the reviews section of the website.
But perhaps the most exciting feature of the website is the Ask a Derma functionality, where readers can consult the Philippine Dermatological Society regarding specific and worrisome skin concerns for free. PDS representatives will also give real-time answers to these users’ concerns. It’s like having a derma at your fingertips, while keeping the discrete distance of web between you.
“The website will be curated to remind our readers about the importance of taking care of their skin,” SkinMatters.com.ph Editor-in-Chief Nicole Romero explains. “We teach them how to find the best products for their complexion by talking about the best ingredients to look out for in the aisles—not which brands to buy.”
With 700,000 visitors in just six months since it was launched (I blogged about it here), they’re really helping a lot of Filipino women and men with their skin concerns. And they will continue to do so, as they regularly build their content.
Now, there is no need to open and compare 10 tabs on your browser anymore; everything on skin concerns can be found in one comprehensive site: SkinMatters.com.ph.
