PONDS Pearl Cleansing GelI’ve been a Pond’s girl since I learned how to use facial wash in first year high school, and I’ve tried practically all their products ever since. I used to ask my mom to buy them for me until I could afford to buy them for myself. Fortunately, I got into an industry where I would be sent free samples of their products. That almost stopped when I left my previous company and decided to do things on my own and blog full-time. Thankfully, Sample Room, the Philippines’ first beauty and lifestyle sampling site, came to the rescue and linked me up again with my friends at Pond’s—a service they’re extending to all their members and subscribers, as they tied up with the beauty brand in introducing its latest facial wash, Pond’s Pearl Cleansing Gel.

Try Pond’s Pearl Cleansing Gel before you buy

If you want to be among the first to try this new skincare must-have from Pond’s before you even buy a 50g tube (P85) or 100g tube (P155), subscribe to Sample Room to get your sample. The best part? You can get it at FREE shipping now until March 6 when you use the code PONDSGEL. Visit to know more and register! (Click here for a quick guide to how it works.)

Sample size is one piece of Pond’s Pearl Cleansing Gel 20g plus one piece of Pond’s Dewy Rose Gel 10g—the moisturizer they recommend you use with this facial wash.

My review

I was so excited to try this new facial wash, I used it the moment I got home after receiving it from Sample Room! The first thing I noticed was how pretty the clear pink gel looked in the tube and out of it (just put a pea-sized amount on your finger), and when I started spreading it on my face, the gel turned into a mild lather and I enjoyed its gentle rose fragrance.

It was indeed very gentle on the skin, unlike other facial cleansers that tend to feel harsh—they may clean your face well, but they also strip it of moisture, hence you get the dry, banat feel. Not with this one. After rinsing it off (and it wasn’t hard to do so), my skin felt smooth, soft, and moisturized—not dry at all. My skin also seemed to have that clean, fresh, and healthy-looking glow. I liked it so much, it replaced the facial wash I had on my bathroom counter. No kidding, I actually look forward to washing my face more than ever, morning and night, because of the scent and the feel of my skin after using Pond’s Pearl Cleansing Gel. And fine, maybe I’m also attracted to it because it’s a pink gel—so fancy!

I’m not particularly eager to have whiter, fairer skin because I’m actually so pale, but this is actually one of the selling points of the Pearl Cleansing Gel: It’s a much gentler alternative for whitening soap users, especially those with sensitive skin, as it supposedly helps make skin fairer without drying it.

How it works

At the Sample Room launch for the Pond’s Pearl Cleansing Gel, we got to know a little bit more about the product, and I would like to share with you what we learned. It is supposedly the first whitening facial wash in gel formulation that cleanses your skin, and helps whiten it without drying it. Gel skincare products are supposedly lighter, so they’re easily and more effectively absorbed by the skin. What your skin specifically absorbs in this case is the Pearl Essence (yes, that’s why it’s a Pearl Cleansing Gel), reportedly known and tested for noticeable skin whitening.

It’s also supposedly great for sensitive skin, as it has milder ingredients compared to drying, whitening soaps. It’s also good for those with oily or combination skin, and will not cause breakouts or clogged pores. I’ve been using it for four days now, and my complexion actually showed visible improvement in texture and tone. It’s staying on my bathroom counter until it runs out!

Pond’s Pearl Cleansing Gel will be available nationwide in all leading department stores, drugstores, supermarkets, groceries, and convenience stores this March.
