I used the newest line of liquid eyeliners, the star product of the Metallic Bouquet collection, to create my signature eye makeup look.

Love eyeliners? I do, too! They’re the best way to perk up your eyes and add drama to your look, no matter how basic your makeup is. I hoard eyeliners—mostly black ones, but sometimes I like to mix things up a bit by getting colored ones. I like liquid and gel types because they’re the smoothest to apply and pack the most color in one swipe.

Metalink Liquid Eyeliners

Yesterday I introduced to you the latest collection from Japanese makeup brand Shu Uemura called Metallic Bouquet. Their star product is Metal:ink, a collection of ten metallic shades of liquid eyeliners inspired by Hanabi, a Japanese festival of fireworks that look like metallic bouquets on the Tokyo night sky.

Now let me talk about the product I looked forward to trying the most when I first heard of the collection—and which expectedly turned out to be my favorite item. I now understand why the Metal:ink Liquid Eyeliner is the star product of Shu Uemura’s latest collection. Not to make a pun, but it does give any makeup look, no matter how simple, that extra star power when you line your eyes with it.

Tip: Do a little flick at the end and create a cat-eye, my signature look, and you’re set.

I got the brown shade, which from afar looks like it’s just your bold black liner, but upon closer inspection, has a shiny, sleek brown or almost bronze finish that gives your peepers a pop of subtle color and a dramatic statement. Imagine if you try the other colors like navy, purple, red, blue, pink, green, silver, and gold. It comes in black, too, but I already have too many black eyeliners, and it’s what I always use, so I wanted to play with this metallic eyeliner in a different yet still versatile hue.

The best part? Not only will the colors take you from a daytime event to a night out, it will also last from morning to evening. It’s waterproof and smudge-proof, and they claim it lasts for 24 hours (I haven’t had the chance to test this, though, as I haven’t stayed up and out for 24 hours and I religiously remove my makeup before I go to sleep). Longevity is something that I look for in my eyeliners because my eyes water easily, especially when I yawn, laugh too hard, or get emotional, haha, so it’s good that Metal:ink stays put. This is particularly helpful for women like us who live in a tropical country with such humid weather that we sweat and get oily without exerting much effort.

Ladies who shy away from liquid eyeliner need not worry, as it is easy to control and apply with precision, and it glides on smoothly, delivering intense color in one quick swipe of its flexible brush tip. You really feel its potent formula on your lids.

Metal:ink is now available in Shu Uemura branches at Rockwell Power Plant Mall, TriNoma, Alabang Town Center, Shangri-La Plaza, SM Makati, and Rustan’s Makati.
