O&CO 2015 Grand Crus Collection Oil, Il Tempio dell'oro

While taking a break from writing my food post about Oliviers&Co.’s (O&CO) new olive oil variants now available in the Philippines and the wonderful ways olive oil enhances various dishes (check it out here), I chanced upon an article in, of all things, an old Guess promotional fashion magazine that lists the many benefits of this elegant culinary must-have, according to vegan blogger Angela Liddon.

The piece on the beauty benefits of olive oil is too good not to share. So before I even talk about how it enhances your food tomorrow, read up now on how it enhances your skin, hair, and lips, and have an even better appreciation for this sophisticated kitchen—and now beauty—staple.

Skincare
“Olive oil is an amazing moisturizer for the entire body, even the face. It counteracts the existing oil and moisturizes deeply, which is what your skin is struggling to do (thereby producing oil). As an overall body hydration, place about a quarter’s worth in your palm and mix with your regular moisturizer, then start massaging. You’ll smell good enough to eat…your skin will absorb authentic hydration in a simple, natural way that lasts much longer than most standard moisturizers.”

Haircare
“Take 1/4 cup mayo, an egg, and [two] tablespoons of extra virgin [olive oil]. Massage the ends first as you don’t want to be left with a greasy scalp. Work your way up. Leave in for 10 to 30 minutes, [then rinse off].”

Lipcare
“Some people mix a little olive oil with a little honey—and voila! A totally natural lip gloss your man actually wants to kiss. It can also be used as a lip buff to exfoliate dry skin [when you add] granulated sugar. Rub in then gently remove with a washcloth.”

Oliviers&Co. is exclusively distributed by Specialty Food Retailers, Inc., a member of SSI Group, Inc. O&CO boutique is located at Central Square, Bonifacio High Street and Greenbelt 5, Ayala Center.

Angela Liddon has a vegan cookbook, “The Oh She Glows Cookbook.” Check out the website.
